Another Reason Why I Think John Travolta is Gay

I was at www.wikipedia.com looking at John Travolta's bio and found this under the heading of "Other":

"He celebrated with the Australian national football team in their dressing room following their qualification for the 2006 FIFA World Cup."

James Brown, Godfather of Soul Dies at 73

Early Christmas morning James Brown passed away from heart failure. I was saddened to hear his passing. After thinking about it for awhile I thought what a great way to leave this earth on Christmas Day. It's so like James Brown. I remember seeing his routine on television. During live performances at the end of a song he would literally be on the stage hunched over on his knees apparently overwhelmed by the music. A member of his band would come and put a blanket on him and it would look like he was consoling him. They would walk him off stage as he would be patting James on the back & then out of nowhere he would come bounding back to the stage to the screams of his audience to belt out the rest of the song. That was his trademark.

I actually remember seeing Mickey Dolenz of the Monkees do his routine on an episode of their show. Mickey was truly doing a tribute to James Brown with Mike Nesmith as the one who put the blanket on him. I read later on that alot of white children who had never heard of James Brown had no idea to that reference.

In the years that passed there were other cultural references to Brown's persona. SNL's Eddie Murphy's rendition of James Brown's Hot Tub. I still remember Eddie Murphy as James Brown getting ready to get into the hot tub, "Here I go! Hot Tub! OW! Hot Tub! Gettin' Ready to go in the Hot Tub!! Ow!"

Mr. Brown also had his troubles. Like getting arrested on PCP and his numerous divorces. His prison time. But he fullfilled his purpose in life. To entertain.

MR. SPONGE-A-LINI'S PERSON OF THE YEAR 2006 IS.......

Jennifer Shiman & her 30 second bunnies.

After thinking who I wanted to make my very own person of the year it came down to the only logical choice.

This year was filled with lots of winning Democrats, corruptive Republicans, silly celeberties, a horrible self-willed war, I needed to choose someone who did exactly what they are supposed to do; entertain.

I must have clicked on "Clarence & Woodgie" more than 100 times so far. Had a bad day go click on the Bunnies' version of "The Exorcist". Check out those bunny ears on those sheep in "Brokeback Mountain" ("I'm not queer!") And don't forget to view " this bun's for you", Kait's favorite link. She can do the dance. And speaking of the dance,("I'm gonna do the dance-do-dad00") I really think Jennifer should add "Flashdance" to her many requests. The bunnies would look cute in leg warmers and a welding mask.

Y!

Yes, the newly elected Democratic Senator Jim Webb is someone that Bush must contend with. Posted by Picasa

Don't Push Senator Jim Webb!

Taken from Americablog.com:

At a recent White House reception for freshman members of Congress, Virginia's newest senator tried to avoid President Bush. Democrat James Webb declined to stand in a presidential receiving line or to have his picture taken with the man he had often criticized on the stump this fall. But it wasn't long before Bush found him.

"How's your boy?" Bush asked, referring to Webb's son, a Marine serving in Iraq.

"I'd like to get them out of Iraq, Mr. President," Webb responded, echoing a campaign theme.

"That's not what I asked you," Bush said. "How's your boy?"

"That's between me and my boy, Mr. President," Webb said coldly, ending the conversation on the State Floor of the East Wing of the White House....

...If the exchange with Bush two weeks ago is any indication, Webb won't be a wallflower, especially when it comes to the war in Iraq. And he won't stick to a script drafted by top Democrats.

"I'm not particularly interested in having a picture of me and George W. Bush on my wall," Webb said in an interview yesterday in which he confirmed the exchange between him and Bush. "No offense to the institution of the presidency, and I'm certainly looking forward to working with him and his administration. [But] leaders do some symbolic things to try to convey who they are and what the message is."

AND ANOTHER THANKSGIVING THREAD....

So Kait came over and yet again she made a fantastic turkey. Mmmmmm...good. The night before I went to the movies with my friends and saw "HAPPY FEET" what a great feel good flick. Marchelle went and saw it another 3 times so far! I didn't think it would make me cry, darn those cute fuzzy penguins. The next day I told Kait all about it in my kitchen just as she walkded thru the door. I started to get teary eyed like Rita Wilson did in "Sleepless in Seatle" when she was describing "An Affair to Remember" to Tom Hanks' character and the other actor in the scene. My sweet Kait has soooo much patience-I just rambled on and on about this cute movie and how the other penguins ostrisized Mumble because he couldn't sing, only dance, and he was befriended by these short little penguins who spoke in a mexican accent, and ended up saving his people just when it looked bleak for him.

Anyhoo, it rained this weekend. They put the christmas decorations up downtown. It sort of feels like the holidays. I'm sort of into it. I'll end up putting my tree up later this week.

Yeah, He did it.

Fox has canceled the much talked about special of O.J. Simpson's book, "If I Did It" where he tells the story of the murders of his wife Nicole Brown and her friend Ron Goldman from his point of view. Billed as his "confession" which is far from it, the pressure has been on Fox and the publisher to withdraw from this horrible project since word came down that the tv special would air at the end of November sweeps month. The publisher has canceled the book as well.

Last night I saw Fred Goldman on LARRY KING LIVE and he looked like he was going to explode with rage from sitting in his chair. Calling Simpson an S.O.B., garbage, and probably more things that weren't put on the air, he called for a boycott on Fox because they would be enabling a murderer. Well it looks like the pressure worked and I hope he stopped clenching his jaw because they just anounced that the special and the book have been cancelled. Now we'll just wait until O.J. catches the killers.

This CD I bought on a hunch. You can't go wrong with House music, that is if you like it. It's so hard to pick out music from just the cover or by looking at the list of artists on the back. This one was a winner. This is the kind of CD you can just play in the background while doing tasks at home or when you are driving in your car. Although this is volume 3, I have yet to hear the previous releases. One of the artists, Miguel Migs is a well known DJ who lives in the South Bay. I have one of his CD's, "Nude Tempo One", nice easy house music, not loud or too techno. This one is just really good consistent beats. Reminds me of being in a gay bar before the big crowd arives. Posted by Picasa

Marlee Matlin, Jennifer Beals & Cybil Sheppard in a publicity photo for Season 4 of the L WORD. The L WORD premieres Jan. 7 2007. They don't look very "lesbian-ish" to me. Maybe Marlee would pass. Hmmm...we'll see. Posted by Picasa

Well I have been trying to just focus on how the Dems are going to do overall on 11/7 but most of the main media sites seem to be leading with the Kerry-Foot in Mouth-Disease.

Here's a guy who didn't really think very thoroughly at what he said. He didn't look at the consequences of his own party. I think he thought, " The Dems have it in the bag(some dumbass pollster told him this-because he's so clueless about what is really going on), I finally get to say what I really think of the GOP and the president. Where's my crayon?"

Which leads us here. The conservative media outlets won't let this die. They are so desperate to keep the power in both houses and smear the Dems. In my own opinion I believe Kerry should have kept his mouth shut. If the Democrats lose both chance of obtaining power of the house and senate on 11/7 I'm so done with this donkey party. This isn't a united party. Kerry didn't win and he doesn't want his party to win on Tuesday because he is still bitter about his 2004 loss. Hey, do you think he will be well received at the Democratic Convention in 2008?

John Kerry Speaks Out

"If anyone thinks that a veteran, someone like me, who's been fighting my entire career to provide for veterans, to fight for their benefits, to help honor what their service is, if anybody thinks that a veteran would somehow criticize more than 140,000 troops serving in Iraq and not the president and his people who put them there, they're crazy.

It's just wrong. This is a classic GOP textbook Republican campaign tactic.

I'm sick and tired of a bunch of despicable Republicans who will not debate real policy, who won't take responsibility for their own mistakes, standing up and trying to make other people the butt of those mistakes.

I'm sick and tired of a whole bunch of Republican attacks, most of which come from people who never wore the uniform and never had the courage to stand up and go to war themselves.

Enough is enough. We're not going to stand for this. This policy is broken. And this president and his administration didn't do their homework. They didn't study what would happen in Iraq. They didn't study and listen to the people who were the experts and would have told them.

And they know that's what I was talking about yesterday. I'm not going to be lectured by a White House or by the likes of Rush Limbaugh who's taking a day off from mimicking and attacking Michael J. Fox, who's now going to try to attack me and lie about me and distort me.

No way. It disgusts me that a bunch of these Republican hacks who've never worn the uniform of our country are willing to lie about those who did.

It's over. "

You go JK.

Well this little 3 disc cd is brought to you by an artist named, Dimitri from Paris. Amazing album. I was in borders one day and they had it on a free listening device. I didn't get it right away. My god it was 3o dollars. So I & reviewed on Amazon.com. Loved it even more! What surprised me was the bonus cd. I thought it was going to be a crappy extra load of remixed-mixes of mixes. It turned out to be just as lovely. "In the House of Love" is an album of core disco, the sound from the 70's before it became popish and diluted for am radio. This album is fun. Track 5, disc one, "Tonight" seems to be my favorite one that I can listen over and over again. If you get a chance go to amazon.com and sample this album: Dimitri from Paris ~ In the House of Love Posted by Picasa

Living Sober 2006

I drove down, actually rode down w/ my buddies from Sonoma County on Sat. We got there about 10 am just in time for the women's meeting. The last speaker tripped me out. She went on about AA being a Christian program. I wanted her to shut up. She was also long winded. Blah!

WE WANT THE DANCE BACK ON SATURDAYS!!!! PERIOD!!!!!

I went to a lot of workshops and mtgs. By 3pm I was so exhausted. I grabbed Kait and we went up in the balcony for some snugglin' and kissin'. It was the first time I got to be alone with her all day.

I wish I got to see my friend Anne there. I hope she is okay. The drag queens were just so fabulous. The booth where you could buy '06 memorabilia was loud and mostly "manned" by queens. The colors for the t-shirts were too dark this year. And what is this thing with the logo? We had a great time though. Again, please bring back the dance on Saturday.

Rhea & Pat's 20th Anniversary Party

It was so wonderful to be a part of their 20th celebration this past Sat. I think there were about 40 or more of their close friends and relations. They have been through so much. A few years back Pat was diagnosed w/ breast cancer. We had a benefit for her. Our local lesbian/one part het and one part bisexual band, Full House played. The highlight for me was when Joan gave Pat Brack a pair of undies. Pat put them over her pants and got on a table and did a panty-money dance. Oh that Pat.

Anyhoo, this celebration was bit tamer than the last one. I was asked to be the DJ. So for the past 3 weeks Marchelle and I have been practicing our technical skills at mixing w/ my board and dual CD player. God it was so much fun! Friends burned discs for us to play, and between Marchelle's collection of Mowtown and Hip-Hop and my 70's,80's, disco stuff we put on an awesome set. It was good to see some of my friends that I haven't been in touch with. I thought there was going to be some drama between a good friend of mine and her ex showing up, but she didn't show up.

I hope that they got enough donations for their Hawaii trip in the fall. Oh yeah I forgot the other highlight for me last Sat., seeing Perla and Lorayne dance to salsa. I've seen them before dance together. They're not a couple but out of all the people I know they are the ones that know all of those swinging moves.

So I hope to be playing at more gigs in the summer. This is still new to me. It's like performing. I got so exhausted. It took me three days to regain my energy. Whew!

Boun Giorno!

my review of season 3 of the L word

Transformation should have been the theme song sung ONLY by Pam Grier and Nona Hendryx. Everyone went thru changes. Shane the die-in-the-wool player proposes maraige to Carmen who FINALLY comes out to her family. Helena who must now face S4 going door to door carrying her cleaning bucket asking for jobs. No not really, just one of my fantasies."Hello..I'm from Peabody's Pink Housecleaning Service, " Ok, ok back on track. Tina and her reclaimed positon in the het world. Kit pregnant w/ Mangus' baby while she's in menopause. Alice losing Dana AGAIN! Jenny is not dating a German Sheppard as Tim predicts, but as we can clearly see is back to dating a woman. Oh yes & Dana. She had the biggest transition of them all reuniting w/ Mr. Piddles. "Mr. P? Is that really you?? It is!! Oh how I missed you my Mr. P"
"Tonya did what?? Mr. P are trying to spell something w/ those rocks...??"
Oh yes I forget Bette. I really like her character she came back as the strong leader and w/ a clear plan of child abduction. All kidding aside I think i had more fun this season hosting L word viewings and posting oh sho.com message boards.

Rooting for The L word

Well tonight was the 2nd show of S3. Haven't seen it yet. I got home late. I'm going to be taping it for my friends to watch this weekend. I'm not really emotionally connected to this show. It's just it makes lesbians visible on t.v. even though it's pay-t.v. I would hate to see this show cancelled but as of this date there has been no word of a 4th season renewal yet. Queer as Folk ended last summer. It was time for the show and it's characters to call it a day. The character of Micheal really got on my nerves to the point I just couldn't stand to see, hear his whiney self on my 32" television screen.

My point is if there is going to be a lesbian/gay television show on any network, showtime, hbo, logo, etc; it should be written well, directed and produced with importance and sincerity. Not just for the money or big names. Mostly it should be entertaining. So I'm going to keep watching the L word, even though the storylines are weak. And I know, as well as all of my friends, that not all lesbians look like Bette, Tina, Shane or even Carmen. I say to Showtime: "Oh PLEASE OH PLEASE DO NOT CANCEL THE L WORD!"

At least not for 2 more seasons.
